August 12, 2019 – Eric C. Brown, LEED AP, long-time principal and senior leader of KBE Building Corporation has announced plans to retire at the end of 2019. John Davies has joined the firm and will take over as Managing Director of KBE’s Mid-Atlantic office.
With more than 34 years of construction experience Mr. Brown joined KBE in 1991 as Chief Estimator. Over the years, Mr. Brown advanced in his positions, eventually becoming Senior Vice President of Operations. In 2011, Mr. Brown took over leadership of KBE’s Mid-Atlantic office, located in Columbia, MD.
There, he led project teams on such projects as:
- US Naval Commissary and Exchange, Annapolis, MD
- Patuxent River Naval Commissary and Exchange, Patuxent River, MD
- Catholic University’s new Athletic Fields in Washington, DC;
- University of Virginia’s Bond Residence Hall in Charlottesville, MD
- Waterside Entertainment District in Norfolk, VA
- Giant Supermarket in Severna Park, MD
- IFly in Gaithersburg, MD and
- Main Event in Columbia, MD;
KBE’s Mid-Atlantic office was recognized with a number of awards during Mr. Brown’s tenure, including ABC Metro Baltimore’s Excellence in Construction awards for the Main Event project in Columbia, MD and the Annapolis Commissary & Exchange. The firm has also received annual recognition for many years as an Accredited Quality Contractor and STEP awards through the national Associated Builders and Contractors.

John Davies took over leadership of the KBE-MidAtlantic office as Managing Director on July 1, 2019. He joined KBE in late 2018 and brings more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry, including working for general contractors in the Mid-Atlantic and New England. He brings many strengths to his leadership position, including a diverse background in development, design, preconstruction, project management, project team recruitment, supervision, and overall project responsibility, and has worked on a wide range of projects for both owners and constructors.
Through the years, Mr. Davies has built an extensive network of strong relationships with subcontractors and owners in the Mid-Atlantic area. He has experience working in a wide range of markets, including commercial, healthcare, office, residential, education, municipal, retail/mixed-use, hospitality, military, and recreation. He earned a Business Administration degree from High Point University and a degree in Construction Management/Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He was previously in leadership positions with Westfield, LLC in Wheaton, MD; Federal Realty Investment Trust in Rockville, MD; and Suffolk Construction Company in Boston.
