Reimagining Space for Smarter Triage
Designed to address growing demand and improve efficiency, the project transformed sections of the existing Emergency Department’s waiting room and administration offices into a dedicated Low Acuity patient triage area. The renovation reflects a broader shift in emergency care toward faster assessment and treatment, allowing patients to receive care sooner while preserving critical resources for higher-acuity cases.

Precision Construction in an Active Medical Environment
Healthcare construction requires a high level of precision, particularly when work is performed within a fully operational Emergency Department. KBE’s team executed selective demolition and interior renovations with close attention to safety, phasing, and coordination with hospital staff to minimize disruption to ongoing care.
The renovation included the installation of ICU-rated automatic entrance doors, seven new nurses’ bays, a centralized nurses’ station, and a new patient toilet. To fully integrate the new triage area into the existing Emergency Department, KBE coordinated complex MEP systems including HVAC distribution, medical gas, lighting, nurse call stations, and fire sprinkler and alarm systems.
Each system was designed and installed to meet stringent healthcare requirements while aligning seamlessly with the existing infrastructure.
